With over 14 years of experience in international education — and a decade of corporate experience before that —Roopa brings a unique blend of strategic insight, creativity, and deep student-focused care to college counselling.
About Me
Before co-founding SetSail Education Consulting, Roopa led the Higher Education and College Counselling department at an international school in Singapore. In this role, Roopa guided students to admissions at top-ranked institutions across several countries.

In addition, she brings extensive expertise in strategic communication, having written over 1,000 professional resumes for clients across industries and roles. This experience helps her to coach students on how to present themselves with clarity and purpose in their personal statements, activity lists, or supplemental essays.

Her earlier career in marketing continues to shape her work with students today. From launching new products to managing brands, she is skilled in crafting compelling narratives and positioning offerings for maximum impact - skills she now applies to help students build strong portfolios and position themselves to stand out.

She holds certifications in College Counselling from UCLA and Teachers College, Columbia University, and has worked with students across a wide range of interests — from Engineering, Medicine, and Law to Architecture, Psychology, the Arts, and the Humanities.

At SetSail, Roopa’s mission is to guide students with clarity, care, and integrity — helping each one discover their unique path, chart their course, and set sail with confidence.
